X-Men: The Animated Series- Season 4, Episode 60
Realizing that he is slowly losing control, Wolverine quits the X-Men and returns to the rural Japan of his younger days in an effort to find himself. He works peacefully with a former spiritual teacher, the monk Oku, to build a temple. But when the neighboring village is threatened by a group of bandits led by the Silver Samurai, Wolverine is faced with the difficult decision to risk losing control in order to help the villagers.
So here’s what you missed last time on Uncanny Avengers: Rule numero uno, is that the work of Apocalypse is never done, and although things may have ended with the Dark Angel Saga, the story set in motion is not quite over. Twins have been born in the City of Akkaba, which makes Archangel a father. Surprise!
The Wasp and Wonder Man, join the team for moral and public relational support, and from the way Rogue is acting, they have their work cut out for them. But that’s the least of their problems.
On the other side of the globe, Wolverine sniffs out Shiro Yoshida, Sunfire, and asks him to join the team, which seem pretty damn, convenient given his time as a horseman of Apocalypse. Who are we kidding, we know that’s why he’s coming out of comic book limbo. Any who, it’s always good to see another familiar face, even if he’s rude and arrogant.
Back at the Mansion, Havok’s been feeling the pressures of being the poster child for the Avengers’ unity division. With all the hoopla surrounding the Red Skull and the mess he made during his assault on New York City, the Avengers’ have to prove more than ever that mutants are not the dangerous deviants people believe them to be. But his nervousness as leader hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The Scarlet Witch wants to be leader, but with a emotional and mental state like hers—that’s just not going to happen. Sorry Wanda. Besides, her past screams mutant terrorist: the daughter of Magneto, House of M, M-Day, Avengers Disassemble, the list goes on. Now, don’t get me wrong, the Scarlet Witch, has done just as much good as she’s done bad—wait that’s not true, but my point is, the Scarlet Witch is still a valuable member of the team, and her importance is best served with her experience, and not her leadership. Maybe in another reality, Wanda—pause.
Havok gives a very honorable speech on identity politics to the public, introducing the “M-word.” Which brings this round circle to the theory that mutants represents blacks in America, and the general population symbolizes the majority that was the white supremacists. Which is pretty cool, because I’ll have to admit, I didn’t like the whole idea of X-Men joining the Avengers, and Captain America acting as their indirect voice.
The Grim Reaper interrupts his speech, yelling at the Scarlet Witch; something to do with the Witch’s godly powers bringing him back to life against his will. The Avengers respond fiercely to take him down, but as surely as his return from the dead has made him angry, it has also made him seemingly more powerful than before, and the Avengers are no match for him except his brother Simon, who has perfect timing; deciding to become a pacifist. Which causes Rogue to get the job done, but what she didn’t know is that there is a such thing as over doing it.
The most important lesson that Captain America and the rest of the avengers on the team are going to have to learn, is that the X-Drama never ends and rarely makes sense. So…
Watch the trailer for Age of Ultron!
They’ve made their debut, now its time for us to follow them into the new world! Mutants are popping up everywhere, and from the looks of it, their powers are proving to be quite exciting. But, with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants back, the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning open for business, and Cyclops out of prison, it looks likes its going to be a classic game of capture the mutant, as each side tries to recruit valuable mutants to join their cause. Cyclops says the mutant revolution has begun, Beast says he’s gone off the deep end. Xavier’s dead, and his first class of X-men are plucked out of the past and into future. Don’t forget about Captain America and the Uncanny Avengers; there’s a lot going on, I honestly think a day of peace is needed!
Cyclops has always been a man of his word, and he’s never let us down before; so I believe a little patience is all we need before things get the rolling. So far he has reunited with the core of his X-Tinction team, lastly breaking Emma Frost from the government’s grip. But shocking revelation, makes this story a sad one for our veterans. The Phoenix Force, always keeps to its nature, and when you play with fire you get burned.
But as the story continues, I can’t help but think about some things that don’t seem to add up. For example, in All New X-Men #1 things seemed okay with their powers, as the event that happen in that issue took place after All New X-Men #3; So are their powers different or not? I don’t know.
So far we’ve come across three new mutants, with powers that just might make them X-Men material: Eva who posses the control over time and space, Chris who can heal and possibly revive a person from death, and Ben who can apparently change his appearance and voice to that of another. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned out to be a sleeper skrull left behind after the events of Secret Invasion. He’s probably looking to fit in, now that Mutants are back in style. Anyway, Cyclops has plans; so get ready, because you have no choice but to join the Mutant Revolution.
X-Men: The Animated Series- Season 4, Episode 62
While the X-Men prepare for a festive Christmas celebration, Jubilee, Storm, and an extra grouchy Wolverine go last-minute shopping in Manhattan. But the jubilant mood quickly turns sour when the heroes find themselves in a race to save Leech, a member of the Morlocks.
X-Men: The Animated Series- Season 4, Episode 61
A cryptic postcard unleashes a flood of maddening and painful memories in Wolverine that threaten to drive him insane. To keep his mind from being torn apart, Wolverine and Beast travel to the one location that may hold the answers to his hidden past: the ruins of the top-secret Weapon X lab.

Well it’s no surprise here that Wolverine will be appearing in quite a few titles, including this very intriguing new series titled Savage Wolverine. Apparently, Wolverine finds himself in the Savage Land, and teams up with resident ass kicker, Shanna the She-Devil, in order to find his way back home. But the story digs a little deeper than that, as creator Frank Cho expressed, “The story is not just a quest to get home; it’s a story about surviving each other’s company and the Savage Land.” The story takes on an Indiana Jones vibe, as the actual movie franchise was an inspiration to Cho, while developing the storyline. While Wolverine marches on, continuing to do what he does best, we’ll all get to enjoy what is swiftly summarized as “babes, brawls and brachiosaurs.” Hoorah!
